Food security and livelihood program through Environmental Rehabilitation Program ERP
IPCS founded Environmental Rehabilitation Program in 2007 as a program through which all its food security and livelihoods projects are implemented. ERP together with IPCS have implemented lots of women empowerment food security and livelihoods projects since establishment.
IPCS implementing food security and livelihood program through its partner ERP community demonstration center in Maridi. Over 1000 women have been trained on vegetable production, farming technics, cooperative farming, urban farming, and formed women Economic Association in Maridi. Now processing, packaging and selling honey from their modern beehives directly.
Improving the livelihoods and standards of living of single mothers and most vulnerable women in Maridi state through honey value chain
ERP being founded by IPCS in 2007, it is the food security and livelihood implementing wing of IPCS. IPCS supported ERP to secure a three years funding from ICCO/KiA for empowering 200 women to take active roles in the men dominated honey production activity in Maridi State.
ERP with support of IPCS gives conditional cash to an organized women association to purchase crude honey, process and package it for income generation. The women will next season harvest over three tones from their modern beehives provided by ERP.
Civil society & local government capacity building and seed-granting Program
- IPCS received Euro 1.3 million with Oxfam Novib from the EC for Organizational Development of local civil society organizations in South Sudan.
- 13 local CSO leaders were enrolled for the nine months OD training using SOCIS & IT (Strengthening Organizational Capacities through Internal Systems).
- The organizations then received Euro 20,000 for livelihoods and food security projects which were implemented and they reported successfully before their graduations. This was the third batch summing to 40 CSOs and 40 local OD consultants
- The model also applies to training of the local government and traditional chiefs
